The Bride wanted to look elegant but not ostentatious. She knew she wanted an off-the-shoulder dress, and had seen dresses before with beautifully gathered backs that looked fantastic from the point of view of the congregation. At the same time she wanted to avoid a full skirt, and was a vegetarian so
did not want to use any silk-based fabrics. We found a subtly patterned acrylic fabric with a strong drape and sheen, and created a highly tailored bodice with a lightly gathered skirt that folded into a heavily gathered chapel length train at the back. Hand covered buttons were placed from the train to the top of the back to add further detail. The bride also wanted to have some way of relating her dress to that of the bridesmaids, so we made lilies out of the purple crepe of the bridesmaids dresses and attached them just above the gathers of the train at the back.
